As I talked about in my post on Jiz Lee's contribution to The Feminist Porn Book, I find that listening to folks who work in and produce porn to be one of the best ways to understand how so many of the arguments from anti-porn feminists just don't hold up. Once we listen to the folks who are actually doing this kind of work, it's easier to understand that this work can be inextricably intertwined with not only straight-up feminist work, but also social justice work around race, class, queerness and the like. The Black Aspie: It Wasn't All Bad
Its the end of the year. The end of one of the most difficult periods of my life. This year has been a roller coaster for me. I’ve shifted between periods of near irrational positivity & absolute bleakness. I wasn’t depressed, I just couldnt see a way out of my current situation. I had to face the fact that not only was nearly every decision I ever made the wrong one, but that I was incapable of making the right one. My life has been a constant struggle to fit in. Coming to terms with the fact that I’ll never quite know what its like to fit was hard, but I’m getting there. Therapy helps. (Read More...)
